What is up with these new words in Kpop (Hyorish, Mirotic, Rainism)? Just recently Rain released a look at his upcoming 5th album jacket titled “Rainism”. Well it features Rain looking mob like. Another photo features Rain with a group of dancers being drenched with rain (no pun intended) playing tag of war, maybe. Which really took hold of my curiosity, in that the dancers look really gay. One guy is dressed with a torn t-shirt and sailor hat (very Village People), another dancer with a face mask (very S&M), with the other dancers t-shirtless (which I personally have no problem with. HEHEHEHEH), and Rain standing above them doing some kind of Riverdance pose.

Besides the horrible Riverdance-Village People-S&M-Hard Body-Ad oops album jacket. Rain did come out with a teaser video for his MV titled “Love Story” featuring Ha Ji Won as the lead actress.

In the sneak peek Rain showcases his acting skills by portraying a guy who is funny and tough, and who is maybe in love with a woman whom is already taken. But of course Rain will fight to get her no matter how many people he will have to fight or near kill (as so the fight scene in video displayed). I like the beginning part where he speaks in English and the his vocals are sounding amazing.

I personally can’t wait for his new album even if I am not so keen to the gayish Riverdance photo.

Rain is planning on having performances on Oct 9th at the MBC Dream Concert and on Oct 17th a showcase titled ‘Me, Rain, Dance’.

Well these past few weeks been busy for me. Sorry for the lack of posting.

It seems that Boa’s US song “Eat You Up” was leaked recently….or was it? No outraged response from the SM clan on the “leaked” material. So some (like myself) are wondering if it’s some kind of marketing strategy to test Boa’s like ability here in the US. But really, will this song be enough to bring a huge American audience to the attention of Korean music artists and take a minute and listen to it? Coolsmurf did a post on it and has a poll, so go and vote.

(Thanks to Yikes for bring this to my attention. :D)

Now will that make anyone rush to their Itunes and download it to their hearts desirer? Well for my standing point….. NO. Again what is Boa going to bring to the American music scene that’s not already here? Absolutely nothing. She sounds like a wannabe Britney Spears (which is nothing to brag about) and very robotic.

Boa’s robotic singing tone: IF -YOU -MOVE -ANY- CLOSER -BOY -THERE- IS- NO -GUARANTEE~…. Really is that singing or someone putting computer codes in a computer to make it sound like a person. It reminds me of one of those computer assisants when you call the telephone company when REAL LIVE assisants are too busy to help. lol

Another thing Yikes bought to my attention is that on Boa’s myspace page they have her place of orgin listed as “Korea, Democratic Peoples Republic of” i.e NORTH KOREA?  Boa is from North Korea? HAHAHAHAHA. They really need to change it to Republic of Korea also known as South Korea. Is Lee Soo Man keeping track of these things? I guess if the Myspace thing is working for Se7en and his US debut I guess it will work for Boa too. Wait……is it working for Se7en? Has anyone heard anything on Se7en lately besides how his US song is NOT exactly a sweet sound in American ears. Man! LSM do something new or in fact get a better singer to represent.

In other great news Lee Hyori and the WonderGirls are receiving some recognition from Prez Hilton.

Omg I have been waiting for this….and I am so excited, but of course I had to post to share. So enjoy!!!!

Also I hear that their mini album is named “The Wonder Years Trilogy”.

Recently the teaser poster came out for DBSK’s 4th album release titled MIROTIC, which is coming out on 23rd of September (no info on pre-orders). Some information from soompi about what Mirotic means “MIROTIC” is a newly coined word from the Korean word “MIRO” and the English word “TIC“. The word “miro” means “lost or maze”. Some say that the meaning of the word Mirotic is the feeling of being wrapped in love with no way out. Mmmmmm that sounds really deep…..I guess this is a sign of DBSK’s maturity over the past years in their personal lives and musical growth.

Now comes the 20 second preview of Mirotic which is a typical DBSK with the big dance sequence and close ups. Oh and also shirtless DBSK which to me is not a bad thing because in my eyes anything DBSK is FANTASTIC . In the sneak preview DBSK displays their dance and vocal skills that they are known for and a new look, and a little bit of flesh which is all good to me. hehehhe 😀

Edit:

Omg DBSK “Hey (Don’t Bring Me Down)” song is out around the net. It has a strong beat and the vocals are great. I see that DBSK are going to be hitting us hard with their new sound. Should other Kpop groups like Big Bang and SuJu be worried about DBSK upcoming album?

In my previous post I mention that Choi Ji Young and Lee Hyun Ji will be added to the variety show “We Got Married” which will showcase them on the Chuseok special, but also two additional couples. Marco & Son Dam Bi, and Fly to the Sky (FTTS member) Hwan Hee & Hwayobi will also make their debut as the new couples being added to the panel on special.

Coolsmurf did a breakdown on the two part episode.

No wonder it’s a good time for her to enter the US music scene because anything entering in the American music scene THAT IS NOT SO AMERICAN is sign of fresh air. But here we have Boa adding her medicore, American copying style to the mix. (WTF) What kind of fresh of breath air is she going to bring?

So on Sept 10th (Korean time) Lee Soo-Man announced alone side his puppet Boa that she will be making her US music debut on Nov 11. The press conference also previewed her first single called “Eat you up” that was produced by Bloodshy and Avant. Eat you up….what kind of title is that? Who is she going to eat up and what will she be eating up? HAHAHAH

US version

Korean version

You feed my armpits hot in ways I can’t explain.” WTH is that suppose to mean?

And why the need for two different versions and why does the Korean version look way better than the US version?

In the American version Boa comes across looking like a vampire and really old looking. And with the moon in the background and snow falling is so depressing. As with the Korean version it looks more lively, more hardcore, and more hip hop mainstream, which is weird because isn’t Boa supposedly a Pop diva more than a hip hop, b-boy or b-girl, from the hood type entertainer? Why the change in style is she trying portray something she is not? Boa singing style is more like Britney Spears which is not actually a plus because Britney CAN’T sing, look here, even Britney Spears wishes that she could sing better or just as good as Christina Aguilera. I’d say that the choreography in both videos are good, but not enough to persuade us that Boa is the “Best of Asia” which is a huge stretch on their part of saying. There are a few that are best of Asia and Boa is no where on that list.

I will say because of SM entertainment smart move in debuting Boa at the time where American music has hit time low that her appearance into the American market will actually get some recognition , but not because of her singing ability.  Which in the end is what American music consumers really care about not the manufactured idols that SM likes to shove down Korean consumers, especially his baby dollies (Boa and SNSD).

I maybe bias in the fact that I don’t really like Boa’s style or singing, and the sad thing about it is that I really do want a Korean entertainer to be able to enter into the American music market and prove to US that great music isn’t only made in America. But REALLY, is Boa the “Best of Asia” was there no one else that could be better than Boa?

Another death in the Korean entertainment world. Recently we heard of the sudden death of rising Korean star Eon Lee in a motorcycle accident that is now being investigated not as an accident at all read more about that here . Now we have the untimely death of Korean entertainer Ahn Jae Hwan (36) who married comedian/actress Jung Sun Hee last November after dating for 3 months. Ahn Jae Hwan whereabouts went unknown for a month before he was found dead and decomposing in his car around 9 am today (Korea time).

Officials are classifying it as a suicide and is investigating motives of his untimely death.

Observers assume a recent string of business failures could have driven him to kill himself…..

Ahn, who owned several bars, restaurants and shoe stores, was reportedly heading for bankruptcy and he recently had to sell a lucrative bar he owned in Gangnam as a last resort. It was revealed that he owed about 4 billion won to private moneylenders. The loan sharks had threatened his wife, calling on her to repay the debt. She had planned to meet with them Monday to discuss the issue.

Some observers said Ahn had long showed signs of suffering problems. A couple of weeks ago, he was sacked from his job as a TV presenter on the entertainment news program ETU, allegedly because he had missed several live broadcasts. Some media reported that he hid himself since then, but his agent explained it was merely an attempt to go on diet.Brian in Jeollanam-do

Found alone side Ahn Jae Hwan were two burnt charcoal briquettes that investigators are saying may have contributed to his death and a suicide note expressing his love for his wife.

A very tragic time in the Korean entertainment world with untimely deaths springing up one after another this year.

My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and friends doing this time.
